iCarly is an American children’s television series that showcases a girl named Carly Shay who produces and stars in her own web based show, iCarly with her best friends Sam and Freddie. The show premiered in September 2007, production for the 2010 season began in 2010. Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Carly, signed a 7-figure contract for the 2010 season of 26 episodes! Wow.
Miranda, a real-life 17 year old, grew up in Los Angeles, California. Miranda’s dad owns a dry cleaning business; her mom focuses her full efforts on raising her family. Miranda was “discovered” by a talent agent at age 3 while singing and dancing at a local restaurant. Miranda has appeared in commercials for McDonald’s and Mello Yellow, and also modeled. Miranda has had parts in television and film, including Smallville, Drake and Josh, and School of Rock. In 2009, Miranda became one of MTV’s Female Pop Rookies. A debut music album for Miranda was begun in 2007, and released in 2010 entitled Sparks Fly. Miranda provided the voice of Margo in the 2010 animated film, Despicable Me. She is currently in production for the voice of The Tooth Fairy in the 2012 movie release The Guardians of Childhood.
