Far from Our Disney – Disney Descendants Party Supplies!

From Sing Along’s to High School Musical, Disney has never failed to deliver great programs for our children. When Descendants came out my daughter went from princess to dancer slash teen singer overnight. She wanted her hair to colored with a blue stripe, she wanted to dress like them, and she felt that she should know magic. When she wanted a party, we were so glad when she showed us the Disney Descendants Party supplies rather than asking for hip hopity music, beer, and pizza. Especially since she is only fourteen and that would be in no way appropriate.

The decorations filled the living room and the garage, where we held most of the party. We put the table in the driveway and dressed it up with the designs that came with the kit. The tablecloth was a great touch and the plates and spoons were next to the cake. One thing I had to say was that I had never seen cake toppers in a birthday kit. This one came with a tiara and a compact to put on the cake, so we went and bought a small-layered cake to put these on, and then put the cake on top of the large cake we originally bought. It was small enough not to look out of place. We had great comments for innovation so I think we pulled it off well.

We had to buy invitations since it did not come with any. I wasn’t expecting them, but it would have made this one a bit better to have themed invitations. What we ended up using was a bit like them and fit the theme so it worked out. We also found the soundtrack for the movie and some other music from High School Musical for the party. That went quite well being that it was music all the kids already liked. Though we did set the rule that we as parents were not listening to vulgar music they listened to in their own time. That wasn’t happening at all.

We had a dance off that was hilarious. One of the guests had a brother who entered the circle and he would have won if it were a humorous dance off. Since this was for older kids, I can see why there was not a piñata included. However, it did have some great stuff. Enough candy to kill a horse, especially rock candy, which I haven’t seen in years. I needed to get a similar recipe online, which I now make in the same cotton candy flavor.

Overall, the party was a success and the Disney Descendants Party supplies kit gave us a base to work to start with. Everything else we threw in was because these girls were just too old for things that I remember at my party. Times change and we have to listen to our girls when it comes to what is “cool” or “rad” these days. I cannot wait until they are old enough to have children of their own and I can go back to being less worried about everyone’s lives.
