Barney Party Supplies – The Background

Barney Party Supplies are based on Barney and Friends, an independent American children’s television show. The series features Barney, an anthropomorphic Tyrannosaurus Rex (in simple English, a loveable purple and green dinosaur) that comes magically to life and conveys learning to a group of children through songs and small dance routines. He displays an optimistic and friendly attitude and is sometimes helped by other dinosaur friends.

The series, also called as Barney the Friendly Dinosaur by HiT Entertainment, is aimed at children from ages 1–8 and was first aired in 1992.

Sheryl Leach, a resident of Dallas, Texas created Barney in 1987. She was searching for some educational TV shows that her son would love and came up with this idea. She, along with her team, created Barney and the Backyard Gang, a series of home videos. Actress Sandy Duncan starred in the first three videos and later the characters Baby Bop, B.J., and Riff were added.

The home video series were only a moderate success outside of Texas. Later Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) got the characters and the format revamped and produced the TV series Barney & Friends in 1992 and only then Barney became popular. Lyrick Studios (which was later bought by HIT Entertainment) and Connecticut Public Television produced the series. After the takeover of Lyrick Studios by HIT Entertainment in 2002, Sheryl Leach has left the show.

The episodes commence with the clips from various episodes and the title card along with the theme song “Barney Is a Dinosaur”. The theme song is sung to the tune of “Yankee Doodle”. Then the scene dissolves into the school or to other places within the neighborhood or even to other countries around the world. Normally we see the children doing an activity related to the topic of the episode. Then the kids imagine something and the “real” Barney is transformed from a plush toy.

Now, the main event of the episode takes place and Barney and the kids learn a new subject. A lot of songs appear during the episode. The songs are related to the topic of the episode. During the episode, Baby Bop, B.J., or Riff also appear. In the end, Barney sings “I Love You” and transforms back to the stuffed toy. “I Love You” song is Barney’s favorite song and is sung to the tune of “This Old Man”. Then the kids discuss what they have learnt that day. Then an off-screen Barney narrates the summary of the episode along with snapshots from the episode. Lastly the credits roll.

Barney Party Supplies – The Options

You may select Basic Party Pack from our Barney Birthday Party Supplies which includes all the stuff you need for 8 guests. Or you may go with the Deluxe Party Pack from our Barney Kids Party Supplies that has much more items than the Barney Basic Pack. The Barney deluxe pack is also for 8 guests. If you need favor boxes as well, I would suggest you to choose the combination of Deluxe Party Pack & 8 Favor Boxes from our Barney Kids Birthday Party Supplies as it would cost you much more if you purchase them separately. If you think that the number of guests may exceed 8 you should consider Barney Party Pack Add-On as it contains extra items for the extra guests. You may order Barney Party Favor Boxes separately as well.

I’ve personally used Barney Party Supplies for my kid’s birthday and through my personal experience I would recommend it to all Barney lover kids. So, play, pretend, dance and sing with Barney Party Supplies!
